A jury unanimously awarded $28.4 million to a class of more than 8,000 current and former Missouri owners of universal life insurance products, including:

Better Life Plan, Better Life Plan Qualified, LifeTrack, AGP, MGP, PGP, Chapter One, Classic, Rightrack (89), Performer (88), Performer (91), Prime Performer, Competitor (88), Competitor (91), Executive (88), Executive (91), Protector 50, LewerMax, Ultra 20 (93), Competitor II, Executive II, Performer II, or Ultra 20 (96) life insurance policy issued or administered by Kansas City Life Insurance in the State of Missouri, or its predecessors in interest, that was active on or after January 1, 2002.

— Form J117 (Competitor 88/91)

— Form J149 (Comp II, Exec II, Perf II, Ultra 96)

— Form J118 (Executive 88/91)

— Form J116 (Performer 88/91/Prime)

— Form J115 (Rightrack 89)

— Form J127 (LewerMax) 

— Form J137 (Ultra 93)

This case is one of five state-wide class actions being prosecuted by Stueve Siegel Hanson and Miller Schirger claiming Kansas City Life has systematically overcharged its universal life insurance policyholders for decades. Together, our firms are prosecuting several other cases on behalf of life insurance policyholders, alleged to have been overcharged.
